Wok around the Clock

Wok meal for a busy day, very simple but always good. You can´t do something wrong here. For busy days I always have in my freezer: Asia Wok vegetables. In my kitchen cupboard: Chinese block noodles, sweet chili and soya sauce. From super market: just need to get chicken or turkey. And don´t forget fresh ginger!

and the Oscar goes to.....

..........Austria! Two Oscars in one night! What a success for such a small country in the big film industry.

Michael Hanneke for the best foreign language film "Amour".

Christoph Waltz for the best supporting role in "Django unchained".

Doctor Perricone Came for a Visit.....

Raikas Intensive Pore Minimizer kasvovesiseerumi on aivan loistava.

As I have mentioned before I´m an addicted fan of Cosmeceuticals and I have been using fantastic products from the American brand SkinCeuticals for a couple of years. After reading the New York Times bestseller "Forever Young" from Doctor Nicholas Perricone I got curious about his own skin care line Perricone MD.

Spending years on research he invented Cold Plasma, a light serum cream, which should be used under the moisturizer. I have been using 3 different products (Cold Plasma, Pore Minimizer, Skin finishing moisturizer) for about a week now and I can tell you the skin is soft as a baby bottom. In Austria you can only purchase the products from his own onlineshop. Products will be sent from London. Prices are high and so are the results.

Perricone, also called "Doctor Salmon", is against botox and face lifting. Eating certain called "superfood" like salmon, broccoli, blue- and raspberries and green tea among others, and using good skin care, you will come far. The book is extremely interesting and you learn and realizes things as you turn the pages.

Cosmeceuticals = combination of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

A "Get Better Cake"

"Old Grandma´s Cardamom Cake" is an easy-to-bake, soft and juicy cake for tea or coffee with healing effects through cardamom. This recipe is at least 150 years old, like taken from grandma´s old tin box full with never-dying-recipes. You don´t need a lot of strength or time to prepare this one, Kitchen Aid will do the work, you just need to measure and pour. How good coffee can taste after a 6 days coffee break. The convalescent takes a magazine, the coffee cup and cake and makes a cosy moment under the blanket.

Hey, it´s Me!

Tulkaa huomenna katsomaan!

Here I am again! Not full in life but getting there! Four days in bed, the virus caught finally this woman as well, despite of all smoothies and healthy soups, what can you do, just surrender! How do you notice that you are getting better? When you see a happy runner from your window and you get that feeling and longing in your feet...when you want to bake...when you see dust all over the place....when you tell a family member to go and get fresh bread in the morning...all these wonderful things in the eyes of a convalescent. And tomorrow girls it´s baking time! My Kitchen Aid is standing still and abandoned, longing for some action, yes!

Sofia´s Red Lentil Soup

Let us eat healthy when bacterias and flus are haunting us behind every corner at the moment. This extremely healthy lentil soup is a recipe of my own. You need the ingredients shown on the picture above, one litre ecological vegetable broth and lemon juice. I love red lentils as they contain for our bodies very important antioxidants.
Sofia´s Red Lentil Soup

1 onion
2 dl/ 0,8 cup red lentils
3 carrots
1 can of crushed tomatoes
one pepper, take the colour that makes you happy
1-1,5 litre vegetable broth
lemon juice, black pepper

Stir the vegetables lightly in oil, add crushed tomatoes and broth. Let it cook gently until soft. Mix with the mixer until even and smooth.

Plate full of goodies for your body.

A Sick Girl

Oksennustauti. Kuumetta ja kurkkukipua. Siinä tämän viikonlopun ainekset. Pikkutyttö peiton alla. Luettu ollaan, kaikki lapsuuden rakkaimmat kirjat. Kaksi tai kolme kertaa läpi. Syöty Brezeleitä ja juotu keltaista Fantaa.
Small girl under the blanket. Gastric flu including womiting, fever and a sore throat. These were the ingredients for this weekend. We have been reading books, all those beloved fairy tales from the early childhood. Over and over again. Been drinking Fanta and trying to eat Brezel.

Jippiii...signs of rapid recovery!

If you are sick or feeling that the nasty flu is on its way...take care!

Apple Cake a la Austria

Itävaltalaiset laittavat melkein jokaiseen kakkuun raastettua sitruunan kuorta.
Austrians put in nearly every cake grated lemon zest. This easy and quick recipe I found on the back side of a vanilla sugar package. I hade to come up with something nice on this extreeemely grey and wet day! There´s a lot of butter in this cake so one slice will do.

Apple Cake a la Austria

200g butter
200g sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
grated zest of one lemon (mix everything until fluffy and white)

Add:
200g flour
1 tsp baking powder

On the top:
4 apples
sugar and cinnamon

200 degrees/ 400F  45 minutes.

Grey Day Walk

Taking a short walk to school and back...ggrrrr, wet and grey!
