It smells like X-Mas Cookies

Vaikka uuniluukku sulkeutuu usein puolenyön aikoihin ja viimeiset keksit on upotettu suklaaseen samoihin aikoihin on tästä tullut suloinen jokavuotinen adventtirituaali meidän tyttöjen kesken.

Mitä sinä leivot jouluksi vai leivotko ollenkaan?
I´m not the big christmas baker, but our every year "cookies-bakery-event" is something that I enjoy doing with my small assistant, trying to make them with love and perfection, even if the kitchen lights will not be turned off before midnight. These baking evenings have become a nice ritual for us girls, something I will be remembering in my rocking chair when I´m old and grey.

What do you bake for Christmas or do you bake at all?

Christkindl Seefeld

Maybe Seefeld´s small christmas fair is not the fanciest and most glamorous fair but very cosy, familiar and relaxed compared to the bigger ones. And the best part is, it´s only a few steps from my home :)) I even dare to claim that Seefeld´s glühwein is one of the best and biggest. Something is missing and that´s the snow, the pictures look a bit naked, but you get used to everything. Still there´s no snow reported for the next days.

Arabian Christmas Cake

Not a Christmas without the Arabian Christmas cake. I really thought about skipping this cake this Christmas but traditions are traditions and somehow you keep on holding on to them. Couple of years ago I baked six cakes and gave them to friends as presents.

With this cake we say goodbye to our Christmas bakery and close it for a while. Next week our kitchen will turn into a helth corner where smoothies and vegetarian dishes will be served. Sporty weeks are ahead of me. Are you also so tired and without energy? Wher can you get the energetic spark again, let me know!

Biscuit Jars

Small bicuit jars are filled with home made biscuits. We give them to those, who have been kind the whole year around. Maybe this small jar with a pink polka dot ribbon, will make their hearts warm, even if it´s just for a while.

Viikko sitten kävimme Italian puolella, Etelä-Tirolissa, Brixenin (Bressanone) kaupungin joulumarkkinoilla. Matkaa on meiltä vaan vähän yli tunti.
I can never get enough of Christmas fairs, they are just so sweet and nostalgic. Last week we visited the Christmas fair of Bressanone in South Tyrol in Italy, just one hour drive from Seefeld. This fair has been our favourite for years, in a way rustic and quite religious but still sweet and not too big. Funny how every village and town has its own fair and still they are all different. Every fair has its own Glühwein and delicious specialities. Let us take a look at some impressions from last week!

Christmas in Innsbruck

Mountains and christmas make together a magical combination, in a way they belong together. Look at scenery on the picture above, how the small town, with its lights, houses and people, lies by the foot of the mountain. The christmas fair is every time as tempting as the year before, although we know by heart where you get the best Glühwein, the traditional decoration for your christmas tree, where Pinoccio sits and so on. But maybe that´s the whole charm of it.
